Description :
A superb career opportunity for an experienced Biochemist / Chemist with a background in cell based assay development has been created at an exciting new microfluidics 'lab-on-chip' life science technology company based in Oxfordshire. The Biochemist / Chemist will be a key figure in the Applications Development Team. They will use their background in biochemical assay development to re-design and adapt existing cell based assays to work effectively on the company's highly advanced, cutting edge devices. The Research Scientist ( Biochemist / Chemist ) will implement the commercial biochemical assays on their devices, quantify the performance, benchmark assay performance, identify problems and provide technical solutions to complex design problems . This is a technically challenging position. The Biochemist / Chemist will be strong experimentally with an ability to solve complex technical problems. They will be an excellent communicator able to liaise across multidisciplinary functions and all levels.


Requirements - Research Scientist (Biochemist / Biochemistry) - Cell Biology

  • An excellent first degree (Masters / MChem / MSC etc. in Biochemistry / chemistry
  • A PhD would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience in the analysis and handling of cells and biomolecules.
Desirable experience of:
  • Performing biochemical assays
  • Working in biochemistry laboratories and familiarity with biological hazards and safe working practices for biological material handling
  • Working in a small company, ideally in the life science, bio-tech or medical device sectors
  • Quality Management Systems, preferably ISO13485
