A superb career opportunity for an experienced Chemist / Biochemist with a background in formulation has been created at an exciting new microfluidics 'lab-on-chip' life-science technology company based in Oxfordshire. The Chemist / Biochemist will be a key figure in the Applications Development Team. They will use their background in biochemical assay development to study the interactions between droplets and the environment within the devices, optimise biochemical formulations and adapt assay protocols to work effectively on their cutting edge devices. This exciting new microfluidics 'lab-on chip' technology spin-out is set to revolutionise the life science, healthcare and biotech sectors. Their novel microfluidics platform can automate tests currently conducted in traditional test tube methods offering unprecedented control, accuracy and flexibility. The technology has massive potential and as such has significant financial backing from its parent company to bring the technology to market.

Research Scientist (Formulation) - Chemist / Biochemist

  • A good degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry
  • A PhD or equivalent industrial experience
  • Experience in the analysis and handling of biomolecules

Desirable experience of:
    Interface chemistry, surface chemistry, droplet chemistry, surfactants, and emulsions
  • Performing biochemical assays
  • Working in biochemistry laboratories and familiarity with biological hazards and safe working practices for biological material handling
  • Working in a small company, ideally in the life science, bio-tech or medical device sectors
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, preferably ISO13485
