A new opportunity for a Surface Chemist to join a multi award-winning Biotechnology Company based in Paris. The Surface Chemist / Materials Scientist will play a key role in the development of a revolutionary instrumentation system that dramatically changes the way we access genetic and epigenetic information. This is cutting edge technology with the potential to seriously transform life sciences & medical research sectors.


This is a brand new position. The Surface Chemist will work within a multi-disciplinary team of biologists, engineers, physicists and software engineers playing a critical role in the commercialisation of the company's innovative new technology platform for fingerprinting, sequencing and epigenetic analysis of DNA and RNA.


The Surface Chemist / Materials Scientist will use their background in chemical modification of surfaces and/or nanomaterials with small molecules, DNA and/or small biomolecules using primary solution-phase methods to guide the development of the instrumentation platform.

Requirements Surface Chemist / Materials Scientist:

  • PHD of Masters' with at least 3-5 years of industrial work experience in a R&D setting
  • Strong background in Surface Chemistry and surface treatment through material design, synthesis and characterisation techniques such as RAMAN, FTIR, DLS, XPS, SEM, AFM.
  • Experience with microfluidics and MEMS devices for Bioanalysis
  • Knowledge of click chemistries of noncovalent interaction chemistry (e.g. Biotin, Streptavidin, modification of double DNA)
  • Good communication skills in English, both oral and written (the working language is English in both UK and French sites)
