Description :

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician / CNC Machinist to join an expanding, technical R&D consultancy. Working within their multidisciplinary Engineering teams on major development projects, you will be helping develop a range of products using a variety of materials and manufacturing methods. You will create prototypes and small batch runs to prove and develop new concepts and design solutions, using CNC and traditional workshop tools in conjunction with rapid prototyping technologies. You will also be involved in experimental and mechanical testing work including assembling test rigs and prototypes.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to HND, HNC, BTEC, OND or similar in an engineering, technical or science discipline, ideally through time served apprenticeship.
  • Able to machine highly accurate parts from a wide variety of materials using CNC and manual machine tools -milling, turning, etc
  • Experience of programming and operating CNC mills using 3D CAD/CAM.
  • Able to work to close tolerances with tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of output
  • Ability to inspect components using conventional and 3D laser scanning metrology systems.
  • Ability to manufacture and assemble complex, fully working prototype products and lab test rigs that include mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Ability to design, produce and implement jigs and fixtures.
  • Ability to work closely with engineers and designers in a fast -paced and dynamic environment where every day is different
