Description : A superbly funded and really exciting new Oxford based diagnostics technology spin-out is looking for a Contract Software Development Architect to take a solution wide view of the existing design and come up with a new architecture that will address a number of the issues that the company has currently, such as performance and reliability, and also provide a solid infrastructure for future developments, that will include development of systems certified for use in medical diagnostics (ISO 13485). A large part of this role will involve liaising with other parts of the business to establish requirements and priorities, and validate the architectural vision.
The current system consists of a custom built electronic control device with bespoke firmware, driven by PC-based software applications over a USB interface. The core software libraries and applications developed in C# using the .NET framework 4.5, with Python being used as a scripting tool to allow our internal application
Required Skills & Experience of Software Architect
  • Educated to degree level at a leading university in scientific subject
  • Experience of C# and .NET software development
  • Broad knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns
  • Experience working in Architect roles, in small to medium teams
  • Adaptable and resourceful and happy to muck in to get the job done when needed
  • Great written and personal skills
  • Have worked in Agile environments
  • Experience designing systems involving hardware and firmware, ideally with Real-Time or other high performance software components would be beneficial
  • Experience with medical device certification an advantage
  • Knowledge of Python, or other scripting languages beneficial
  • Experience with source control systems (git) and continuous integration (Jenkins) beneficial
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies beneficial
